    Protective Services Officers will receive a 12 week comprehensive paid training schedule at the Victoria Police Academy. You will be required to attend training on a full-time basis Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 4:10pm.

    Your journey at the Victoria Police Academy is about dedication, commitment and motivation to succeed. We provide you with all the tools to chart your progress towards your goal through regular practical assessments and exams.

    It is not compulsory to live-in whilst training however if you choose to do so, you will gain dormitory style accommodation, meals from Monday to Friday, computer access, extensive physical training facilities and an environment conducive to study. Recruits residing within the Academy during their training period will be required to pay a fee which is currently set at $462 per fortnight and includes meals and accommodation.

    After the completion of your 12-week training course you will gain the knowledge, skills and confidence whilst completing an on-the-job training program for a further 3 months with a Police member.

    From 1 January 2017, the introduction of a new Academy Smoking Policing will see all areas of the Victoria Police Academy smoke-free for employees, except for two designated smoking points.
    This applied to all employees, visitors and contractors while on the Academy premises.
    Smoking will only be permitted during designated breaks at the nominated smoking points.
    Note: The Academy aims to be totally smoke free from 1 January 2018.
